Private Photography Tuition
"My private photography tuition is all about helping you get more from your camera and, most importantly, enjoying your photography."
Every session is tailored around you, your experience and the type of photography you want to learn. We can choose a location that suits the subjects you’re interested in, whether that’s landscapes, wildlife, pets, or something completely different.
The sessions are relaxed and informal, with plenty of time to ask questions, try things out and build your confidence behind the camera.

LEARN PRACTICAL SKILLS
My aim is to help you understand not just how to take a better photograph, but why certain techniques work, so you can take what you’ve learned and put it into practice yourself.
Packages
1:1 | Three Hours | £350
-
A completely personalised photography session based around your experience, camera and goals.
-
We’ll start by discussing what you want to improve and any areas of photography you struggle with.
-
I’ll help you understand your camera and how to choose the right settings for different situations.
-
We’ll spend plenty of time photographing rather than simply sitting through a technical lesson.
-
Practical tuition can include exposure, focusing, shutter speed, aperture, ISO and composition.
-
If you’re interested in wildlife photography, we’ll put those skills into practice in the field.
-
I’ll review your photographs with you during the session and explain how they could be improved.
-
The pace will be tailored entirely to you.
-
Ideal for beginners or photographers looking to improve specific areas of their technique.

Wildlife photography tuition can include fieldcraft, anticipating behaviour and positioning yourself for better photographs.
-
We’ll review your images throughout the session and make adjustments as we go.
-
There’s enough time to revisit anything you’re struggling with and practise it again.
-
The session is designed around you rather than following a fixed classroom-style lesson.

2 PPL | Full Day | £600-750
-
A full day dedicated to improving your wildlife photography.
-
We’ll choose a suitable location based on your interests and the wildlife and photographic opportunities available.
-
The day will be built around wildlife behaviour, light and photographic opportunities rather than a rigid timetable.
-
Expect extensive practical tuition covering camera settings, focusing, composition and fieldcraft.
-
We’ll work on understanding animal behaviour so you can start anticipating photographs rather than simply reacting to them.
-
I’ll help you identify better backgrounds, angles and positions to create stronger images.
-
We’ll photograph throughout the day, adapting our approach as the light and wildlife change.
-
There will be time to review your images and identify areas where you can improve.

What to expect
Tuition and guidance can include camera settings and exposure, shutter speed and aperture, autofocus and tracking moving subjects, choosing the right lens and focal length, composition, working with natural light, positioning for the best photographic opportunities, understanding animal behaviour and anticipating moments, photographing wildlife in different environments, and tips for getting sharper, more detailed images. I’ll also help you find and identify wildlife throughout the experience, while explaining what to look for and how to anticipate behaviour.

What to bring
Photography sessions often take us outdoors and onto a variety of terrain, so it’s important to come prepared for the conditions. The British weather can be unpredictable, so it’s always better to have a little more with you than you need.
-
Weather-appropriate clothing – layers are recommended so you can adjust easily throughout the session.
-
Full-length trousers – particularly recommended as some photography may involve kneeling, sitting or getting close to the ground.
-
Comfortable, sturdy footwear – walking boots or suitable outdoor footwear are ideal, especially on uneven or muddy ground.
-
Waterproof jacket and trousers – even if the forecast looks good, a spare waterproof layer is always worth bringing.
-
Camera and lenses – bring the equipment you would normally use, along with any lenses you’d like to learn more about.
-
Camera strap – recommended if you’re not using a tripod or monopod.
-
Spare batteries – fully charged, with a spare if you have one.
-
Memory cards – fully charged batteries are no good without space to save your photographs!
-
Lens cleaning cloth – useful for keeping your lenses clear of rain, dust and fingerprints.
-
Tripod or monopod – if you have one and would like to learn how to use it effectively.
-
Sun cream and sun protection – depending on the weather.
-
Hat and gloves – particularly useful during colder months.
-
Drinks and snacks – bring whatever you need to stay comfortable, whether that’s a hot drink, cold drink or both!
-
Any photography accessories you’d like help with – if you have equipment, you're unsure about, bring it along and we can go through it together.
-
Most importantly, come prepared to get outside, have fun and take some photographs!
